Injuries or illnesses contracted at work are usually eligible for Worker’s Compensation benefits. You must report the illness or injury to your employer right away or you may lose access to these benefits. Once reported, your employer, their insurance company and the Missouri Division of Worker’s Compensation will evaluate your case. After the evaluation, determination about benefits and financial compensation will begin.

How is Worker's Compensation different from Insurance?

Worker’s Compensation is a type of insurance paid by your employer to ensure that they are not sued by employees who are injured or contract illnesses while working. When you accept Worker’s Compensation, you are agreeing not to sue your employer. Worker’s Compensation can pay for medical expenses and lost wages if you are unable to continue working during your treatment and recovery.

Types of Worker’s Compensation Benefits

  • Temporary Partial Disability Benefits
  • Temporary Total Disability Benefits
  • Permanent Partial Disability Benefits
  • Permanent Total Disability Benefits

In the case of death due to a workplace accident, survivor benefits may be available. This also includes family members who lost loved ones in the line of duty (police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, etc.).

Do I have a case for Worker’s Compensation?

Any accident or illness you incur from your workplace or workplace activities would qualify for Worker’s Compensation. The amount and type of benefits will vary based on the extent of your injuries.

Why Do I Need An Attorney?

The following situations would be reasons to contact an attorney if you are entitled to Worker’s Compensation:

  • Your health and well-being are permanently impacted by your injuries
  • You require surgery
  • You are unable to continue working the same type of job before your injury
  • A pre-existing disability is not being considered in your current claim
  • You are dissatisfied with the benefits being offered
  • You believe you are eligible for better or other benefits not being offered
  • Your employer is not acting within the guidelines of the decision made by the Division of Worker’s Compensation
  • You want to make sure your case is being handled fairly

If any of those reasons apply to your situation, contact Daniel Finder at Finder Law today for a free consultation. Getting a lawyer working on your case as quickly as possible is important. Mr. Finder has over 10 years of experience and will work aggressively on your behalf to make sure the benefits you are awarded are fair and reasonable.
