Common Misconceptions About Personal Injury Attorneys

There are many common misconceptions about personal injury attorneys. These misconceptions can unfortunately cause people to make the mistake of not hiring an attorney and trying to settle a claim on their own.

"Ambulance Chasers"

Even though this is a common joke made about our profession, no one is chasing ambulances. Even though litigating cases based on injuries, we never want to see people hurt. Many injuries can cause long-term health issues and we don’t want to see anyone suffer that way. However, we know injuries caused by the fault or negligence of another do happen and we need to take care of people who suffer those injuries. Our role as a personal injury lawyer is to advocate for people who suffer from events like these. We chase fairness and compensation for our clients who are trying to recover from sometimes life-altering injuries- we don’t chase ambulances.

"They Only Care About Money"

This is another common, untrue miscaption about professionals in our industry. Yes, we do make money from our services, but that is true of every business. However, we work on a contingency- meaning we only get paid if you win. If we truly just cared about money, we would charge regardless of the outcome. Instead, we work hard to ensure our clients receive fair and reasonable settlements and will be able to move forward in their life without continued financial stress from their injuries.
